As a Data Analyst at OM Bank, you will play a key role in driving evidence-based decision-making across the business. Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, you will extract, validate, and analyze data to create high-impact dashboards, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and reveal actionable insights that optimize customer experience, operational efficiency, and financial growth.

Key Result Areas & Core Responsibilities

In this role, your deliverables span seven core performance pillars:

1. Data Analysis & Insights

  • Pattern Discovery: Analyze multi-source datasets to identify trends, operational risks, and growth opportunities.
  • Exploratory Analytics: Perform exploratory data analysis to answer critical business questions and guide executive decisions.
  • Insight Translation: Convert raw data findings into clear, actionable business recommendations.

2. Reporting & Data Visualization

  • Dashboard Development: Design, build, and maintain automated Power BI dashboards, scorecards, and management reports.
  • Data Accuracy: Ensure reporting outputs comply with business definitions and data quality metrics.
  • Stakeholder Presentation: Communicate analytical insights clearly to both technical teams and non-technical business leaders.

3. Data Collection, Preparation & Quality

  • ETL & Wrangling: Clean, validate, transform, and aggregate data for downstream reporting.
  • Data Integrity: Identify data anomalies, gaps, or inconsistencies and collaborate with data owners to resolve root causes.

4. Business Requirements & Analytics Support

  • Requirements Gathering: Translate business needs into formal reporting specifications and KPI measurement frameworks.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor key business performance metrics and highlight emerging operational trends.

5. Data Governance & Compliance

  • Policy Compliance: Adhere strictly to data governance, privacy standards (POPIA), and network security protocols.

Candidate Profile & Minimum Entry Requirements

To qualify for this data analytics position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Academic Qualification: A completed Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification) in:
    • Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics
    • Computer Science, Information Systems
    • Economics, Finance (or a related quantitative field).
  • Work Experience: 1 to 2 years of practical experience in a Data Analyst, Reporting Analyst, or Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst role.
  • Technical Stack:
    • SQL: Strong hands-on experience using SQL for data extraction, querying, and manipulation.
    • Power BI: Demonstrated experience in building, maintaining, and publishing interactive Power BI dashboards.
  • Advantageous Skills: Exposure to Python or R for statistical modeling/data manipulation, alongside prior experience within banking or financial services.
