Career Advice: The Public Sector “Winning” Formula

  1. The Z83 is Your First Test: Hiring managers use the Z83 to see if you can follow instructions. Leave no field blank. If a section doesn’t apply to you, write “N/A.”
  2. Highlight “Public Service”: In your cover letter, explain why you want to work for SASSA. Mention your commitment to serving the community and your understanding of the agency’s mandate. SASSA looks for people who have the patience to handle high-volume public interaction.
  3. Proof of Qualification: Ensure your certification is clear. If your degree is in progress or you do not meet the NQF 6 level, do not waste time applying; they are strict on these specific criteria.
