About the Role & Firm
A fast-paced law practice located in Nieuw Muckleneuk, Pretoria is seeking a dedicated, mobile Candidate Attorney to join their litigation department. This role provides intensive practical legal exposure across criminal matters, civil litigation, court appearances, and client advocacy.
The position requires an energetic individual who holds Right of Appearance and is willing to travel extensively to various courts, including township and rural venues, as well as attend to urgent after-hours bail applications.
Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties
The Candidate Attorney will execute duties across four key operational areas:
1. Court Appearances & Client Advocacy
- Magistrate’s Court Appearances: Exercise Right of Appearance to represent clients in routine court proceedings, postponements, and interlocutory applications.
- After-Hours Bail: Attend police stations and courts after hours for urgent bail applications when required.
2. Legal Process & Service of Documents
- Court Process Execution: Issue, file, and serve court pleadings, summonses, notices, and subpoenas across various Magistrate’s and High Courts.
- Sheriff & Registrar Liaison: Direct and follow up on execution process with Sheriffs of the Court and court registrars.
3. Travel & Field Consultations
- Regional Travel: Travel frequently to courts, police stations, and client sites in townships and rural regions as required by case matters.
4. Practice Administration & File Management
- Document Drafting: Draft routine notices, affidavits, correspondence, and legal research memos.
- File Maintenance: Maintain structured case files, client notes, and court appearance logs.

- Educational Qualifications:
- Completed Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree (Mandatory; Academic Record required).
- Professional Standing & Right of Appearance:
- Must have Right of Appearance in terms of current legal practice regulations (Mandatory).
- Language & Communication Skills:
- Strong English proficiency (speaking, reading, and writing) (Mandatory).
- Licensing, Mobility & Personal Profile:
- Valid driverβs licence and own reliable vehicle (Mandatory for court and site travel).
- Comfortable and willing to travel to townships and rural areas as required for cases.
- Available and willing to assist with after-hours bail applications.
- Presentable, professional demeanor.
- Must reside in Pretoria (Essential).
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: R 8 000.00 Gross per month (Slightly negotiable depending on practical experience).
