About the Role & Law Firm
A well-established law firm located in Northcliff, Johannesburg is seeking a dedicated, professional Conveyancing Attorney to join their growing real estate and property law practice. Serving a diverse Afrikaans- and English-speaking client base, the practice handles high-volume property transfers, bond registrations, and property transactions.
This role is ideal for an Admitted Conveyancer or an Admitted Attorney with practical transfer and bond experience who is passionate about pursuing a specialized, long-term career in property law and conveyancing practice management.
Key Responsibilities & Daily Practice Management
The Conveyancing Attorney will execute duties across four primary practice areas:
1. Property Transfers & Bond Registrations
- Transfer Administration: Draft, review, and execute transfer documents, deed sales agreements, and transfer duty declarations.
- Bond Registrations: Manage bond registration procedures for major financial institutions and private lenders.
2. Deeds Office & Lodgement Operations
- Deeds Registry Execution: Attend to lodgements, queries, and execution of deeds at the Deeds Office in Johannesburg.
- Title Deed Audits: Verify property titles, servitude restrictions, clearings, and municipal clearance certificates.
3. Client & Financial Liaison
- Bilingual Client Care: Liaise professionally in both Afrikaans and English with buyers, sellers, estate agents, mortgage originators, and financial institutions.
- Financial Approvals: Oversee transfer cost estimates, guarantee requests, and final financial adjustments prior to registration.
4. Practice Compliance & Legal Administration
- FICA & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with FICA regulations, LPC guidelines, and firm Standard Operating Procedures across all property files.
Candidate Profile & Minimum Entry Requirements
To qualify for consideration for Reference CR2881, applicants must meet the following mandatory criteria:
- Educational & Professional Qualifications:
- Completed LLB Degree (Essential).
- Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa (Essential).
- Admitted as a Conveyancer (Preferred / Advantageous).
- Work Experience & Expertise:
- Post-admission Conveyancing experience OR Admitted Attorney actively seeking to specialize in Conveyancing (Essential).
- Practical experience handling property transfers and bond registrations (Preferred).
- Stable employment record with contactable professional references (Mandatory).
- Language & Communication Skills:
- Must be fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English with complete professional fluency in both languages (Mandatory).
- Location, Licensing & Vetting:
- Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle for travel to the Deeds Office (Mandatory).
- Must reside within daily commuting distance of Northcliff, Johannesburg (Essential).
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: R 20 000.00 – R 30 000.00 Gross per month (commensurate with conveyancing experience).
