Spriggabyte is a Cape Town-based web engineering agency that builds and maintains enterprise web solutions for high-profile UK and international clients across finance, legal, and professional services.
Unlike large corporate agencies where interns perform repetitive taskwork, Spriggabyte is taking on one dedicated intern for an intensive, direct-mentorship placement. You will work side-by-side with the Senior Developer and founder—learning how high-performance enterprise websites are built, secured, deployed, and maintained for global brands.
Technical Stack & What You Will Master
You will receive real commercial development mentorship from day one across six core web engineering disciplines:
1. Enterprise Content Management Systems (CMS)
- Drupal & WordPress: Master backend configuration, theme development, custom module/plugin creation, and content management logic.
2. Modern Backend & Frontend Development
- PHP & Laravel: Develop clean, maintainable backend code, object-oriented programming (OOP) logic, and API integrations using modern PHP frameworks.
- HTML5, CSS3 & JavaScript: Modernize layouts, structure semantic markup, and implement responsive user interfaces.
3. Professional DevOps & Environment Workflows
- Git & Version Control: Learn professional Git branching strategies, pull request reviews, and collaborative code management.
- Docker & Staging Systems: Work with containerized local development environments (Docker), continuous integration (CI/CD) pipelines, and live staging servers.
Candidate Profile & Minimum Entry Requirements
Spriggabyte prioritizes problem-solving potential and curiosity over formal credentials:
- Academic Background: No degree required! Bootcamp graduates, self-taught coders, TVET/university students, and entry-level developers are all eligible.
- Technical Baseline: Basic prior exposure to HTML, CSS, and fundamental programming concepts in any language (PHP, Python, JavaScript, Java, C#, etc.).
- Personal Attributes:
- Genuinely Curious: You tinker with code, build side projects, or break tech on your own time.
- Resourceful Problem Solver: Comfortable hitting a wall, reading documentation, trying logic fixes, and knowing when to ask for guidance.
