Career Advice for AWS Applicants

  1. The “Physical” Aspect: This isn’t a desk-only job. During your interview, emphasize that you are comfortable with the physical demands of a warehouse/data center environment.
  2. Ticketing Systems: AWS uses tickets to manage work. If you have ever used Jira, Trello, or even a basic customer service log, highlight that experience.
  3. Accuracy is King: In a data center, missing one small cable can delay a multi-million Rand project. Show that you have “extreme attention to detail” in your CV.

Possible Interview Questions

  • “Tell us about a time you had to organize a large amount of information or inventory. How did you ensure nothing was lost?”
  • “Safety is huge at AWS. If you saw a colleague lifting a heavy box incorrectly, how would you approach them?”
  • “AWS is fast-paced. How do you handle it when your priorities change suddenly mid-day?”
