UX / UI Designer – Graduate Program

This is a premier opportunity for a technically-inclined designer to enter the digital industry in Sandton. Unlike traditional design roles, Blueion Support Services is looking for a hybrid candidate who bridges the gap between visual aesthetics and front-end implementation, specifically requiring hand-coding skills.

Position Details

  • Employer: Blueion Support Services
  • Location: Sandton, Gauteng
  • Job Type: Permanent (Graduate Program)
  • Sector: Digital & Online Industry

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Degree or diploma in UX/UI Design, Web Design, Graphic Design, or Visual Communication.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Design Tools: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). Familiarity with Figma or Canva is a plus.
    • Coding: Working knowledge of HTML (hand-coding) and the ability to manipulate email templates.
    • Web Fundamentals: Basic understanding of CSS, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing both UX thinking (user-centered logic) and visual design skills is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

You will grow under the mentorship of a senior design team, contributing to:

  • Digital Content: Creating visual assets for web, social media, and marketing campaigns.
  • Coding & Layouts: Designing and editing responsive layouts and marketing emails using HTML.
  • Brand Integrity: Maintaining consistency across all visual communications and internal documents.
  • Creative Collaboration: Participating in brainstorming sessions and refining concepts with marketers and senior designers.
  • Production: Preparing final artwork for both digital and print production.

How to Apply

Blueion is looking for “creative thinkers with technical capabilities.” To stand out:

  1. Code Your Portfolio: Since they require HTML hand-coding, having a portfolio website you built yourself (rather than just a Behance link) will prove your technical skills immediately.
  2. Highlight Email Design: Specifically mention any experience you have with responsive email templates, as this is a key requirement for their marketing efforts.
  3. Show Your Process: Don’t just show final screens; include wireframes and user flow diagrams to demonstrate the “UX thinking” they are looking for.
