About the Opportunity & The Client Services Operations Division
Our client is a premier South African investment management firm known for its high-performance culture, rigorous research, and commitment to client success. Operating out of their Cape Town headquarters, the Retail Client Services and Operations division provides the critical backbone for client investment management, trade settlements, portfolio administration, and investor relations.
As an Investment Service and Operations Consultant, you will gain entry into a permanent corporate position designed to build your credibility in asset management. You will apply your academic foundation directly to real-world financial operations—mastering investment products, operational workflows, and high-touch client engagement in an environment that values independent thinking and accountability.
Key Responsibilities & Operational Exposure
In this role, you will develop deep expertise across three primary operational pillars:
1. Investment & Portfolio Operations
- Transaction Execution: Process, verify, and settle retail investment transactions, including fund subscriptions, redemptions, switches, and transfer instructions.
- Data Integrity: Maintain precise client and portfolio records in compliance with FICA, FAIS, and internal operational guidelines.
2. High-Touch Client Engagement & Advisory Support
- Stakeholder Relations: Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for individual investors, financial advisors, and institutional intermediaries.
- Query Resolution: Investigate and resolve complex client service requests, market inquiries, and investment administration queries accurately and efficiently.
3. Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Workflow Optimization: Identify operational bottlenecks, streamline service procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the client services floor.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with portfolio management, compliance, and legal teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
Candidate Profile & Minimum Entry Requirements
To qualify for this permanent graduate intake, candidates must meet the following baseline requirements:
- Academic Qualification: A completed Bachelor’s Degree (e.g., BCom, BBusSc) or final-year student status in any of the following disciplines:
- Investment Management
- Finance / Financial Management
- Economics / Applied Economics
- Statistics / Quantitative Analysis
- Business Management / Business Science
- (or closely related commercial/quantitative fields)
- Academic Track Record: Strong, consistent academic performance spanning both Matric and university coursework.
- Experience Level: Open to final-year students, recent graduates, or young professionals with up to 3 years of work experience.
- Work Eligibility: Must be eligible to work permanently in South Africa.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
