The Role: Infrastructure Maintenance
Road workers are the frontline of provincial infrastructure. You will be responsible for the physical upkeep of the road surface, drainage systems, and road verges. This work is critical for preventing road degradation and ensuring the safety of thousands of daily commuters.
Key Responsibilities
- Pavement Maintenance: Patching potholes, sealing cracks, and repairing damaged road surfaces using asphalt or cold-mix.
- Drainage Management: Cleaning and maintaining culverts, side drains, and catchpits to prevent water damage to the road structure.
- Road Safety Installation: Assisting in the installation and repair of road signs, guardrails, and cat-eyes.
- Verge Maintenance: Controlling vegetation growth on road shoulders and clearing debris to ensure visibility for drivers.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operating hand tools and light machinery required for road repairs.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: NQF Level 4 Qualification (Grade 12 or equivalent) in Road Construction, Road Maintenance, or a related technical discipline.
- Attributes: Must be physically fit and able to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Salary: R163,680 per annum (Level 3).
- Location: Various districts within Limpopo Province.
