Mbuyelo Group: Khashani Colliery Bursary 2026

Mbuyelo Group is inviting South African students to apply for their 2026 bursary intake. This programme is designed to cultivate local talent for the mining and engineering sectors.

Fields of Study (Paths)

Funding is specifically allocated for undergraduate degrees in the following disciplines:

  • BSc Mining Engineering
  • BSc Mechanical Engineering
  • BSc Electrical Engineering
  • BSc Metallurgical Engineering
  • BSc Geology
  • BSc Surveying / Mine Surveying

Full Requirements & Eligibility

To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen with a valid ID.
  • Academic Performance: * Matriculants: Minimum overall average of 60% (excluding Life Orientation).
    • University Students: Minimum overall average of 60% for all major subjects in your current year of study.
  • Registration: Must be accepted or planning to study full-time at a recognized South African University for the 2026 academic year.
  • Community Preference: Preference is often given to students residing within the local host communities near Khashani Colliery or the Victor Khanye Municipality.

Compulsory Documentation

Your application will be disqualified if these are not attached (certified copies):

  1. Identity Document (Applicant and Parents/Guardians).
  2. Latest Academic Results (Matric certificate or recent University transcript).
  3. Proof of Admission/Registration on the university’s official letterhead.
  4. Proof of Residence (Water/Lights bill or a letter from a local ward councillor).
  5. Motivation Essay: A written essay of 100–150 words explaining why you chose your field and why Mbuyelo should choose you.

What the Bursary Covers

While subject to individual contracts, the Mbuyelo bursary typically covers Tuition fees, Registration, and Prescribed Books. It is renewable annually based on maintaining a satisfactory academic average.
