Career Advice for Putco Applicants

  1. The “Operations” Niche: If you are applying for Traffic/Operations, research the Integrated Transport Network. Show that you understand how buses, taxis, and trains must work together in a city like Johannesburg.
  2. Safety & Compliance: In the transport industry, safety is everything. For Mechanical Engineering applicants, highlight any knowledge of preventative maintenance or heavy-duty vehicle safety standards.
  3. Local Knowledge: If you are applying for the Soweto or Pretoria depots, mention your familiarity with those areas. Knowing the local geography is a massive plus for an Operations intern.
