About the Role & Insurance Control Room Operations

A fast-growing short-term insurance provider in Centurion is recruiting experienced, high-performing Control Room Consultants to manage 24/7 operational monitoring, incident response coordination, and first-line policyholder assistance.

Operating on a predictable 2-days-on, 2-days-off shift rotation (alternating 12-hour day and night shifts), Control Room Consultants act as the primary operational hub during motor, home, or roadside emergencies. The role requires quick decision-making, sound short-term insurance product knowledge, empathetic policyholder communication, and accurate system logging under pressure.

Key Responsibilities & Operational Workflows

The Control Room Consultant will execute core emergency and insurance operations:

1. Incident Monitoring & Emergency Dispatch

• Emergency Assistance: Receive inbound emergency, accident, roadside assistance, and claim notification calls from short-term insurance policyholders.
• Service Provider Dispatch: Coordinate and dispatch towing services, security responders, assessors, and emergency medical services according to policy cover guidelines.

2. Policy Verification & System Administration

• Cover Verification: Verify active policy details, excess structures, and cover limits on short-term insurance databases before authorizing emergency benefits.
• Case Logging: Accurately log incidents, dispatch notes, times, and customer interactions within the central control room software.

3. Shift Coordination & Follow-Up

• Shift Handover: Maintain detailed shift logs and execute thorough handovers between day and night shift teams to ensure uninterrupted customer support.
• Stakeholder Communication: Keep policyholders, brokers, and service providers updated on emergency response progress.

Candidate Profile & Minimum Entry Requirements

To qualify for consideration, applicants must meet the following mandatory criteria:

• Educational Qualifications:
  • Completed Matric / Grade 12 Certificate (Mandatory).
• Industry Work Experience:
  • 2 to 3 years’ direct working experience in the Short-Term Insurance industry (Mandatory).
• Regulatory & Professional Qualifications:
  • Must have started working towards (or completed) official short-term insurance qualifications (Mandatory):
    • Regulatory Examination for Representatives (RE 5)
    • Short-Term Insurance Qualification (NQF 4 or NQF 5)
    • Class of Business (CoB) Certification
• Shift Work Readiness:
  • Fully available and committed to working 12-hour shifts (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM) on a continuous 2 days on, 2 days off schedule (including weekends/public holidays on rotation).
• Location:
  • Based in or able to commute reliably to Centurion, Gauteng.
