Are you a recent Architectural Technology graduate looking to work on international projects? Lynx Professional Services is hiring Graduate Technologists to support architecture studios across the US and Canada. This role is focused on high-quality Revit modeling and AutoCAD drafting, providing a unique platform to develop world-class BIM skills.
Position Details
- Employer: Lynx Professional Services
- Role: Architectural Technologist (Graduate)
- Work Location: 100% Remote
- Software Focus: Revit and AutoCAD
Requirements to Apply
- Education: A Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology (Diploma preferred).
- Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD.
- Equipment: You must have your own computer capable of running the required software.
- Connectivity: Excellent, stable internet is an essential requirement for this remote role.
- Attributes: Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn international standards and workflows.
What You Will Do
You will be part of a remote production team acting as an extension of international design studios. Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- BIM Modeling: Developing Revit models based on project requirements.
- Technical Drafting: Creating detailed AutoCAD drawings from redlines and architect markups.
- Project Support: Assisting with drawing production across various project stages (from conceptual design to construction documentation).
- Standards Compliance: Learning and following specific client standards for layering, families, and sheet setups.
What You Get
- International Experience: Work on real-world projects with firms in the US and Canada.
- Skill Growth: Significant development in Revit proficiency and professional documentation standards.
- Structured Support: Work within a team environment that provides guidance and feedback.
The Fast-Track Interview Process
Lynx Professional Services is known for a rapid hiring process:
- Practical Test: A 2-hour technical assessment (you choose either Revit or AutoCAD) to demonstrate your drafting speed and accuracy.
- Same-Day Interview: If you pass the technical test, you will typically move to an interview on the same day.
Career Advice: Nailing the Remote Architecture Interview
- Master the “Redline” Concept: This role involves working from “redlines” (hand-drawn or digital corrections on drawings). In your interview, emphasize your ability to follow instructions precisely. Mentioning your attention to detail is key—overlooking a single redline can cause significant delays in a production environment.
- Global Standards (Imperial vs. Metric): Since you will be working with North American firms, you will likely encounter Imperial measurements (feet and inches). Mentioning that you are comfortable switching between systems or are eager to learn US drafting conventions will set you apart.
- The Remote Setup: Ensure your home “studio” is mentioned. Briefly describe your PC specs and your internet speed in your cover letter to prove you can handle large Revit central files without lag.
Possible Interview Questions
Technical & Process
- “In Revit, how do you handle families or components that aren’t behaving according to the client’s standards?”
- “How do you organize your workflow when you receive a large batch of markups with a tight delivery deadline?”
Remote Work & Communication
- “Since we work with international clients in different time zones, how do you ensure clear communication when a drafting instruction is ambiguous?”
- “What is your process for self-checking your work before submitting it to a senior technologist for review?”
