The Magaliessig software engineering hub is recruiting a Junior Software Engineer. This role is ideal for an ambitious, hands-on developer ready to work under the guidance of senior leads, building scalable enterprise Java services, web portals, and modern React interfaces.
Key Responsibilities & Software Delivery Operations
The Junior Software Engineer will contribute across six core engineering deliverables:
1. Full-Stack Java & API Development
- Backend Engineering: Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining backend services using Java (JEE/SE) and Spring Boot.
- API Management: Build, test, and integrate RESTful and SOAP web services using tools like Postman and SoapUI.
2. Frontend Integration & Maintenance
- React Interfaces: Build web components and user-facing features using React (functional components, hooks, JSX, and state management).
- System Maintenance: Perform bug fixes, system troubleshooting, and feature enhancements across real-time web portals.
3. Database & Version Control Management
- Relational Databases: Write, optimize, and execute SQL queries across databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MariaDB).
- Code Quality & Git: Utilize Git (GitHub/Bitbucket) and Maven for version control, build automation, and peer code reviews.
4. AI-Assisted Development Tools
- AI Integration: Leverage AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) while critically evaluating, testing, and debugging AI-generated code to ensure system integrity.
5. Testing, QA & DevOps Collaboration
- Automated Testing: Write unit tests using JUnit (Java) and Jest (React).
- DevOps Support: Collaborate with QA and support teams on CI/CD pipelines, Docker containerization, and deployment workflows.
Candidate Profile & Minimum Entry Requirements

- Educational Qualifications:
- Completed Diploma or Java Programming Certificate (Mandatory).
- BSc in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Desirable / Advantageous).
- Relevant Experience:
- 2+ years of relevant programming exposure gained through internships, formal coursework, personal projects, or full-time employment (Mandatory).
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Core Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Java 8+ (JEE/SE) and experience with Spring Boot.
- Hands-on experience with Relational Databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
- Understanding of RESTful / SOAP web services, Git, Maven, and Postman/SoapUI.
- Ability to evaluate and integrate AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Claude Code).
- Desirable / Advantageous Experience:
- Familiarity with React (hooks, props, state), npm, and webpack.
- Exposure to JUnit, Jest, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and agile methodologies.
