Junior BI Consultant

A dynamic Business Intelligence team in Sandton is looking for a technically proficient Junior BI Consultant to help drive data-driven decision-making. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with a strong SQL foundation to gain high-level exposure to reporting and complex data projects while working alongside seasoned experts.


Position Details

  • Location: Sandton, Johannesburg (Office-based)
  • Salary: R15,000 – R16,000 CTC per month
  • Language Requirement: Applicants must be fluent in both English and Afrikaans.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: 1–3 years in a SQL, reporting, or data-focused role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong SQL skills (joins, grouping, subqueries, aggregations).
    • Solid understanding of relational databases.
    • Advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Attributes: Analytical, detail-oriented, reliable, and professional.
  • Advantageous Extras:
    • Exposure to Power BI, SSRS, or other BI tools.
    • Basic understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) concepts.
    • Experience with financial or insurance data.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be the bridge between raw data and actionable insights:

  • SQL Optimization: Writing, testing, and optimizing queries for reporting and analysis.
  • Data Manipulation: Extracting and manipulating data from SQL Server databases.
  • Reporting: Developing and maintaining reports using Excel, SSRS, and Power BI.
  • Validation: Performing data reconciliations and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Support: Troubleshooting reporting issues and documenting SQL logic.
