Fastway Couriers is seeking a detail-oriented, reliable Junior Accounting Clerk to join its finance department at the Isando operational hub in Johannesburg. Reporting directly to the Financial Manager, you will assist with daily accounting tasks, financial record-keeping, data processing using Sage accounting software, and cross-departmental financial admin.
Key Responsibilities & Daily Financial Deliverables
In this accounting support role, your daily operational workstreams will cover four core finance pillars:
1. Daily Accounting Operations & Processing
- Transaction Processing: Assist in capturing daily financial transactions, invoices, and payment receipts using Sage accounting software.
- Ledger Maintenance: Support the finance team in updating and maintaining accurate general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
2. Data Management & Excel Reporting
- Record Keeping: Maintain and update financial spreadsheets, schedules, and digital logs using Microsoft Excel and MS Office tools.
- Data Verification: Verify figures, receipts, and supporting invoice documentation to ensure absolute data accuracy.
3. Internal Stakeholder Communication
- Professional Liaison: Communicate clearly and professionally in verbal and written English with internal managers, depot franchise partners, and team members regarding account queries.
4. On-Site Operational Support
- Daily On-Site Duties: Travel daily to the Isando hub to execute on-site financial administration and document archiving.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
To qualify for this junior accounting opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualification: Minimum Higher Certificate in Accounting (or higher qualification like a Diploma or Degree in Accounting/Finance).
- Software Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office applications.
- Advantageous: Hands-on experience or exposure to Sage Accounting software.
- Language Skills: Fluent in English (both written and verbal) with strong business communication skills.
- Mobility & Attendance: Able to travel daily to the Isando (Kempton Park/Ekurhuleni) branch for on-site duties.
- Core Competencies: Detail-oriented, highly reliable, strong mathematical accuracy, eagerness to learn, and structured time management.
