As a Procurement Managed Services Graduate Intern (2027 Intake) based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, you will join a connected community of solvers. You will gain practical exposure across the entire strategic sourcing lifecycle, working directly with client stakeholders, managing spend data, administering e-sourcing tools, and tracking commercial value creation.
Key Responsibilities & Learning Deliverables
As a Graduate Intern, you will work under the guidance of experienced procurement leads across five core functional areas:
1. End-to-End Strategic Sourcing Support
- Sourcing Lifecycle: Support sourcing projects from intake and requirements clarification through market analysis, supplier engagement, bid evaluation, recommendation, and contract handover.
- Supplier Research: Conduct supplier and market intelligence research, identify potential vendors, and assist with supplier pre-qualification and onboarding.
2. Commercial Data Analytics & Spend Analysis
- Spend Data Management: Cleanse, structure, and analyze client spend, pricing, and supplier data to identify cost-saving and value-add opportunities.
- Bid Evaluation: Prepare evaluation packs, compare bidder submissions, and track baseline financial savings.
3. Sourcing Administration & System Ownership
- E-Sourcing Administration: Prepare and administer Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs), bidder clarification logs, and tender documentation.
- System Super User: Master procurement and e-sourcing software platforms to act as a system super user, streamlining administrative workflows for senior sourcing specialists.
4. Project Tracking & Reporting
- Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate sourcing pipelines, supplier records, audit trails, and management reports using client and PwC systems.
- PMO Support: Support the project management office with building and maintaining operational tracking tools.
5. Stakeholder & Governance Coordination
- Communication: Coordinate meetings, action logs, and approvals between client stakeholders, external suppliers, and internal team members while maintaining strict procurement governance and confidentiality.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
To qualify for consideration for PwC’s 2027 Graduate Internship intake, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Undergraduate Degree (a Postgraduate / Honours Degree will be highly advantageous) in any of the following fields:
- Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or Logistics
- Business Management, Commerce, Economics, or Finance
- Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related Engineering fields
- Data Analytics, Information Systems, Mathematics, or Statistics
- Undergraduate Degree (a Postgraduate / Honours Degree will be highly advantageous) in any of the following fields:
- Software & Technical Competencies:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel (data handling, formulas) and MS PowerPoint (Essential).
- Exposure to data visualization tools (Power BI/Tableau), e-sourcing, or ERP/procurement platforms (Advantageous).
- Core Skills & Attributes:
- Strong numerical, analytical, and logical problem-solving abilities with high data accuracy.
- Clear written and verbal business communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities within strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- High ethical standards, commercial curiosity, and commitment to client confidentiality.
- Location & Availability: Based in or able to work in Johannesburg, Gauteng for the 2027 graduate intake.
