Are you a current student needing to complete your practical hours? Jumbo is offering 12 to 18-month placements for students in various business and technical fields. This programme is designed to provide you with a real-world understanding of the retail sector while you earn a monthly stipend.

Required Fields of Study

Students from the following disciplines are invited to apply:

  1. Business Management: Gain exposure to retail operations, stock management, and branch administration.
  2. Human Resource Management: Assist with recruitment, employee records, and industrial relations within a retail context.
  3. Marketing Management: Learn about retail branding, in-store promotions, and customer engagement.
  4. Information Technology: Provide technical support, manage POS (Point of Sale) systems, and assist with store-level IT infrastructure.

How to Apply

For Work Integrated Learning, your application is slightly different from a standard job application. You must provide:

  1. Institution Letter: An official letter from your University or TVET College confirming that you require WIL to complete your qualification.
  2. Academic Transcript: A record of your completed modules to date.
  3. Updated CV: A clear summary of your education and any previous part-time work or volunteer experience.
  4. Certified ID: A valid copy of your South African Identity Document.

Advice for Students: Making the Most of WIL

  1. The “Logbook” Priority: Your primary goal is to graduate. Ensure you share your institution’s logbook with your supervisor on day one so they can assign you tasks that satisfy your academic requirements.
  2. Retail is Fast-Paced: Whether you are in IT or Marketing, the retail environment moves quickly. Show that you are proactive and willing to assist outside of your specific department during peak shopping times.
  3. Network Internally: Use this 12–18 month period to build relationships. Many WIL students are offered permanent roles within the company once they officially graduate.
