The IT Graduate Internship is a structured, hands-on development opportunity based within Alfeco’s Information Technology department. This role offers an ambitious IT graduate practical exposure across end-user desktop support, server administration, network maintenance, Active Directory account management, hardware provisioning, and industrial CCTV/backup systems.
Key Responsibilities & Daily Technical Deliverables
In this multi-faceted IT support internship, your daily deliverables will cover five core technical areas:
1. User Provisioning & Active Directory
- Account Management: Create, configure, and manage user accounts, group permissions, and email mailboxes in Active Directory.
- Hardware Setup: Assemble, configure, and issue new laptops, desktops, and peripherals aligned with corporate standards.
2. Helpdesk, Remote & On-Site Support
- Technical Support: Provide daily Tier 1/2 technical support to internal employees for hardware, operating systems, and software.
- Remote Assistance: Deliver remote desktop troubleshooting and liaise with external service providers for technical escalations.
3. Server, Backup & CCTV Administration
- Daily Checks: Conduct daily health checks on physical/virtual servers, network devices, and infrastructure.
- Backups & Security: Assist with data backups for critical software, maintain antivirus software deployments, and perform basic CCTV system troubleshooting.
4. Network & Systems Maintenance
- Networking: Assist with basic network troubleshooting, cabling, switch configurations, and router connectivity.
- Inventory Control: Maintain daily records of IT assets, stock inventory, hardware allocations, and technical documentation.
Candidate Profile & Technical Requirements
To qualify for entry into this IT internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualification: Completed Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, System Administration, or Network Engineering.
- Experience Level: 0 to 2 years of relevant IT exposure (fresh graduates and entry-level IT technicians welcome).
- Core Technical Knowledge:
- Working understanding of Windows Server maintenance and Active Directory.
- Good understanding of network topology, computer components, and network devices.
- Familiarity with antivirus management, system backup procedures, and remote support tools.
- Key Soft Skills: Proven troubleshooting capability, strong telephone/remote etiquette, methodical record-keeping, and good interpersonal communication skills.
- Location: Based in or able to commute to Gauteng.
