About CHIETA & The ICT Internship Programme
The Chemical Industries Education and Training Authority (CHIETA) is a statutory body established to facilitate skills development and training across the chemical sector in South Africa.
CHIETA is recruiting an ICT Intern for a 24-month structured internship at their head office in Midrand, Gauteng. Offering a monthly stipend of R7,000.00, this program provides ambitious IT graduates with practical hands-on experience in IT end-user support, system maintenance, remote desktop troubleshooting, user requirement gathering, and statutory reporting documentation.
Key Responsibilities & KPA Operations
The ICT Intern will support the ICT Support Unit across four primary performance areas:
1. Desktop Support & Hardware/Software Maintenance
- End-User Support: Provide technical ICT assistance to all business units across the organization.
- Remote & On-Site Assistance: Assist with minor hardware and software housekeeping, resolving user issues via remote control software or in-person desktop troubleshooting.
2. User Requirements & Meeting Coordination
- Requirements Elicitation: Assist in facilitating and coordinating user requirement gathering sessions for system updates.
- Stakeholder Scheduling: Secure appointments with internal business units, arrange meetings, and compile detailed meeting minutes.
3. Systems Documentation & Archiving
- Records Management: Ensure all ICT unit files, system user guides, technical documentation, and service logs are stored and filed appropriately.
4. Statutory Reporting & Unit Analytics
- Report Validation: Gather and conduct first-line validation of IT reports required for statutory and compliance audits.
- Report Consolidation: Consolidate weekly and monthly divisional performance reports for the ICT unit head.
Candidate Profile & Minimum Entry Requirements
To qualify for consideration for this internship, applicants must meet the following mandatory criteria:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Completed National Diploma in Information Technology or a related computing field (Mandatory).
- Strong academic record with a minimum 65% overall qualification aggregate (Mandatory).
- Work Experience:
- No work experience required (0 Years Experience).
- Geographic Requirement:
- Must reside in Gauteng Province (Mandatory).
- Licensing (Advantageous):
- Valid South African Driver’s License is an added advantage.
