Career Advice for TCM Applicants
- Clearly State Your Location on Your CV: Because TCM is running this program across five distinct provinces (GP, FS, WC, EC, KZN), make sure your residential address is clearly stated at the very top of your CV. Recruiters will sort applications by geographic proximity to local reporting offices first.
- Highlight All “Fix-It” Technical Skills: If you have any basic background in fixing computers, configuring home Wi-Fi networks, or working with tools (especially relevant for the electrical/mechanical engineering edge), create a dedicated bullet point list for “Practical Technical Skills” on your resume.
- Verify Your Certification Readiness: Prepare digital copies of your academic records (Grade 11 report, Matric, or IT Diplomas) along with your ID. Ensure they are cleanly scanned as separate PDFs so you can upload them easily as you navigate the application portal.
Sample Interview Preparation Questions
Technical Logic & Infrastructure Strategy Questions
- Question (Logical Fault Diagnosis): “As part of your TCM workplace exposure, you may be tasked with supporting client IT environments. If a corporate user informs you that their workstation cannot connect to the local network while everyone else’s computer is working perfectly, what logical steps would you take to diagnose the fault?”
- Question (Value of OEM Certifications): “The job profile notes that IT Vendor or OEM certifications are an added advantage. Why do you believe having a theoretical qualification paired with specific vendor vendor-certified knowledge is so valuable when working in a modern enterprise ICT environment?”
Behavioral & Professional Ethics Questions
- Question (Handling Pressure & Deadlines): “TCM operates a dynamic environment where meeting service level deadlines is crucial. Can you share an example from your academic history where you had to manage multiple assignments under a tight deadline, and how you organized your time to deliver high-quality work?”
- Question (Integrity & Workplace Accountability): “Integrity and strong work ethics are central pillars at TCM. What does workplace professionalism mean to you when interacting directly with a corporate client on behalf of the company?”
