Aimed at accelerating South Africa’s decarbonization, green industrial development, and a Just Energy Transition, this programme leverages the country’s unique renewable energy potential, extensive mineral reserves, and established infrastructure.
Operational Scope & Key Responsibilities
As a Graduate Intern, your day-to-day focus will be shaped by your specific qualifications and interests alongside live project demands. You will be supported directly by a dedicated mentor from the Green Hydrogen or Power-to-X Hub programs across four core operational quadrants:
1. Technical Research & Market Intelligence
- Desktop Research: Execute rigorous desktop research, data collection, and value-chain mapping across the green economy sector.
- Technical Summaries: Prepare clean, data-driven analytical summaries and policy briefs regarding emerging green technologies, global regulations, and local industry trends.
- Technical Literacy: Track developments in electrolysis, industrial hydrogen production, battery chemistry, and Power-to-X processes.
2. Multi-Stakeholder Coordination & Knowledge Sharing
- Event Logistical Support: Assist in organizing, executing, and documenting high-level meetings, workshops, seminars, training sessions, and technical study tours.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as an administrative touchpoint for diverse participants, including South African government officials, international technical experts, and heavy industry representatives.
3. Project Management & Reporting Governance
- Documentation Maintenance: Formulate initial drafts for project reporting inputs, operational planning sheets, technical concept notes, and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework inputs.
- Procurement Scoping: Assist the project team in compiling foundational draft specifications and Terms of Reference (ToR) for external consultants.
- Records Administration: Manage, index, and organize critical project records, official correspondence, event materials, and formal meeting minutes.
Candidate Profile & Selection Criteria

- Academic Qualifications: A relevant undergraduate tertiary degree (Bachelor’s / Advanced Diploma) in Energy Studies, Engineering, Environmental Economics, Political Sciences, or a closely related developmental discipline.
