The Graduate Data Analyst (AI and Analytics) internship is hosted within BIL’s core Information Systems Department in Greenstone. This cutting-edge program focuses on integrating AI-enabled analytics and modern automation into supply chain reporting. Utilizing cutting-edge platforms like Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Microsoft Copilot, successful graduates will build interactive executive dashboards, optimize data pipelines, and develop AI prompt engineering workflows to drive business intelligence.
Key Responsibilities & Core Workstreams
In this AI-focused analytics role, your daily operational deliverables will cover four primary technical pillars:
1. Power BI & Microsoft Fabric Workspace Administration
- Report Refresh Management: Monitor, validate, and troubleshoot scheduled Power BI report refreshes across enterprise business units.
- Fabric Infrastructure: Assist in administering, maintaining, and monitoring Microsoft Fabric workspaces, semantic models, dataflows, and ETL data pipelines.
- Dataset Validation: Support rigor-driven testing and validation of analytical datasets, semantic models, and reporting structures.
2. Dashboard Engineering & Self-Service Analytics
- Dashboard Development: Design, build, and maintain functional reports, interactive dashboards, and visual analytical outputs.
- User Enablement: Guide and assist internal operational users with report navigation, metric interpretation, and self-service analytics adoption.
3. Generative AI Prompting & Automation (Microsoft Copilot)
- AI Prompt Engineering: Develop effective prompts for Microsoft Copilot to support rapid reporting, data modeling, code troubleshooting, and documentation.
- AI Validation: Evaluate and audit AI-generated code and analytical outputs to guarantee accuracy, data quality, and business relevance.
- Workflow Automation: Identify manual, repetitive reporting and data prep routines, automating them via Copilot and Microsoft 365 workflow tools.
4. Trend Analysis & Business Intelligence
- Insight Generation: Analyze large logistics datasets to identify hidden trends, operational anomalies, patterns, and actionable commercial insights.
Candidate Profile & Technical Requirements
To qualify for entry into this Graduate Programme, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualifications: Completed or final-year student status for a Bachelor’s Degree, BSc, BCom, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma in:
- Computer Science
- Software Development
- Computer Engineering
- Or a related IT / Information Systems qualification
- Academic Performance: Strong academic performance will be considered advantageous.
- Technical Stack Exposure:
- SQL Fundamentals: Basic understanding of SQL queries (SELECT statements, joins, filtering, aggregations, query debugging).
- Data Visualization: Exposure to Microsoft Power BI and data visualization best practices.
