About the Role & Business Intelligence Team
An industry-leading enterprise based in Waterfall is recruiting a high-caliber Graduate Business Intelligence Analyst (Finance) for a 12-month structured contract.
This role is tailored for an early-career professional or high-performing recent graduate driven by data, financial reporting, business intelligence (BI), and process engineering. Embedded within the finance and data analytics division, the successful analyst will bridge the gap between financial data pipelines, executive dashboards, and operational process optimization.
Key Responsibilities & Core Workstreams
In this analytical finance role, your daily deliverables will cover four primary data pillars:
1. Financial Data Modeling & Dashboarding
- BI Visualization: Design, build, and maintain interactive performance dashboards and executive reports using modern BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik).
- Data Extraction & Cleaning: Aggregate, model, and validate large financial and operational datasets from enterprise ERP systems.
2. Process Improvement & Workflow Optimization
- Process Mapping: Analyze existing financial workflows and reporting routines to identify operational bottlenecks and data manual entry risks.
- Workflow Automation: Support cross-functional process improvement projects aimed at streamlining financial data flow and reporting efficiency.
3. Advanced Financial Analytics & Insights
- Spreadsheet Analytics: Perform advanced data manipulations, reconciliations, and financial modeling using Microsoft Excel.
- Strategic Insights: Translate raw financial analytics into actionable business intelligence summaries for senior stakeholders.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
To qualify for entry into this 12-month BI contract, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualifications: Completed Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Information Science / Information Systems
- Industrial Engineering
- Data Analytics / Data Science
- Or a closely related quantitative field
- Experience Level: 1 to 2 years of relevant experience (recent graduates with internship, university project, or workplace experience are strongly preferred).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, data modeling, Pivot Tables).
- Hands-on experience with a Data Visualization / BI tool (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, QlikView).
- Practical exposure or project involvement in process improvement methodologies.
- Core Competencies: Exceptional analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, attention to data accuracy, and strong business communication skills.
- Location: Based in or able to commute daily to Waterfall, Midrand / Johannesburg.
