Ergasia Placements is recruiting an experienced Collections Agent – Credit Card Late Stage (Ref: Pta000459) on behalf of a reputable organisation operating within the legal collections and financial services sector in Pretoria East.
This specialized role is designed for a confident, target-driven call centre agent with dedicated experience managing late-stage default credit card accounts within a major South African retail banking environment. The successful candidate will engage directly with difficult debtors, negotiate structured payment arrangements, and track default accounts using specialized legal collections software.
Key Responsibilities & Late-Stage Collections Focus
The Late-Stage Credit Card Collections Agent will execute eight core operational deliverables:
1. Late-Stage Debtor Contact & Engagement
- Outbound Engagement: Contact and engage with defaulting credit card account holders regarding high-risk outstanding balances and overdue payments.
- Conflict Resolution: Manage challenging, high-pressure debtor interactions professionally, tactfully, and with patient assertiveness.
2. Negotiation & Payment Resolutions
- Payment Structures: Negotiate realistic, binding debt settlement agreements, payment plans, and account resolutions with debtors.
- Commitment Tracking: Systematically follow up on payment arrangements, debit order promises, and outstanding default commitments.
3. Legal Collections & System Capturing
- Excalibur Platform: Accurately update, log, and capture all debtor communication histories and payment promises on the Excalibur collections system (Excalibur 4).
- Legal Compliance: Apply knowledge of the South African legal collections framework, National Credit Act (NCA), and legal default processes where applicable.
4. Target Achievement & Records Management
- Target Metrics: Work consistently toward monthly individual and team recovery targets and operational call centre deadlines.
- Audit Records: Maintain accurate, auditable records of all debtor engagements, correspondence, and account notes.
Candidate Profile & Minimum Entry Requirements
To qualify for consideration for Reference Pta000459, applicants must meet the following mandatory criteria:
- Banking Work Experience (CRITICAL):
- 3 to 5 years of recent personal Credit Card Collections experience specifically within a major banking environment (Standard Bank experience is specifically called for in the requisition).
- Software System Proficiency (CRITICAL):
- Direct working experience on Excalibur collections software (preferably Excalibur 4).
- Educational & Technical Skills:
- Completed Grade 12 / Matric Certificate (Mandatory).
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Industry & Legal Knowledge:
- Sound understanding of banking, credit card financial services, and legal collections processes.
- Core Competencies & Personal Attributes:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with persuasive negotiation and active listening abilities.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and composed when handling hostile or difficult debtors under high-pressure call centre targets.
- Location:
