– Comfortable experimenting with chatbots, workflows, APIs, or no-code/low-code tools
– Python or JavaScript experience is a plus (but not required)

🎓 No degree required
💻 No formal experience required
✅ Self-taught, online learners, and “just curious”

Career Advice: How to Win Without a Degree

  1. Show, Don’t Tell: Since they don’t care about your CV, they care about your Portfolio. In your email, link to a project you’ve done. Did you build a custom GPT? Did you automate your emails? Did you write a Python script to scrape data? Send the link.
  2. The “Technical Assessment” Prep: They will send you instructions for a test. Expect a challenge that involves logic, prompt engineering, or basic automation. Practice by trying to build a simple “Chatbot” or an automation that sends an email when a Google Sheet is updated.
  3. Master the “No-Code” Stack: If you don’t know Python, don’t worry. Familiarize yourself with “Low-Code” tools. Mentioning you know how to use APIs or tools like Replicate or Hugging Face will make you stand out.
  4. Stay “Hungry”: Stellenbosch is a competitive tech environment. Show that you are someone who reads AI news (like The Rundown or TLDR) every single morning.

Possible Interview Questions (The “Adventurer” Style)

“Tell us about an AI tool you discovered recently and how you used it to solve a personal problem.”

  • Answer: Be specific. “I used Perplexity to research a topic for my side project” or “I used Midjourney to create a logo for my cousin’s business.” Explain the why and the how.

“We want to automate our HR onboarding process. How would you start researching a solution?”

  • Answer: Show your process. “I’d first map out the steps, then look for tools like Zapier to connect our form to our database, and finally use an AI model to summarize the candidate’s info.”

“What do you do when an AI model gives you a ‘hallucination’ (wrong information)?”

  • Answer: “I look at the prompt I gave it. I try ‘Chain of Thought’ prompting—asking it to think step-by-step—or I verify the output against a trusted source.”

How to Apply

  • Location: Stellenbosch (On-site/Hybrid)
