Vitalink Africa is seeking an analytical, detail-oriented Data Analyst Intern to join its remote operations team. In this role, you will work directly with health and operational datasets to extract actionable insights, build performance dashboards, identify epidemiological trends, and support data-driven decision-making in healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities & Daily Deliverables

The Data Analyst Intern will support data operations across four primary functional areas:

1. Data Collection, Cleaning & Preparation

• Data Wrangling: Collect, clean, transform, and structure healthcare and operational datasets from diverse data sources.
• Data Integrity: Verify data accuracy, eliminate duplicate entries, and ensure dataset standardization for analytical modeling.

2. Healthcare Analytics & Trend Identification

• Pattern Analysis: Analyze complex datasets to uncover operational trends, gaps, resource anomalies, and performance bottlenecks.
• Disease Surveillance & Access: Support quantitative research related to disease surveillance, patient access metrics, and healthcare outcome tracking.

3. Reporting & Dashboard Development

• Business Intelligence: Build, maintain, and update interactive reports and visual dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Stakeholder Reporting: Present findings and operational metrics clearly to team leaders to guide strategy.

4. Operational Support

• Ad-Hoc Analysis: Assist cross-functional teams with data inquiries, ad-hoc reporting requests, and research documentation.

Candidate Profile & Minimum Entry Requirements

• Educational Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Degree/Diploma in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Health Informatics, or a related field (Essential).
• Technical Skills & Tool Ecosystem:
  • Proficiency in data cleaning and manipulation tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, or R).
  • Experience building reports or dashboards using Business Intelligence (BI) tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or Google Looker Studio).
• Key Attributes & Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical thinking, quantitative problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Passion for leveraging data to solve real-world healthcare challenges in Africa.
