To ensure thousands of commuters move seamlessly every day, RATP Dev relies heavily on high-availability IT infrastructure, real-time data networks, and secure enterprise systems.
Operating out of the Midrand facility, the Information Technology Division is opening two Graduate Intern vacancies. This 12 to 24-month structured program provides recent graduates with immersive hands-on experience in enterprise IT service management, system administration, end-user desktop support, and hardware maintenance across a critical transportation infrastructure environment.
Key Responsibilities & Technical Exposure
Under the guidance of the IT Manager and senior system administrators, the Graduate IT Interns will deliver operational support across five core functional areas:
1. First-Line Support & Helpdesk Operations
- User Support: Provide friendly, prompt first-line technical support to internal staff facing hardware, software, network, or access issues.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve software glitches, printer connectivity faults, and desktop operating system anomalies.
2. Hardware & Software Administration
- Workstation Setup: Assist with unboxing, assembling, installing, and configuring desktops, laptops, peripherals, and software applications.
- Account Management: Support user account provisioning, access level configuration, and credential resets within enterprise directories.
3. Systems & Infrastructure Maintenance
- System Integrity: Assist in maintaining overall IT infrastructure health, verifying local network connectivity, and running diagnostic checks.
- Data Administration: Maintain accurate IT records, system documentation, and standard operating procedures.
4. IT Asset & Inventory Control
- Asset Registers: Log, tag, track, and maintain accurate hardware and software asset registers across the facility.
- Inventory Audits: Conduct regular physical equipment audits to ensure stock accuracy and security compliance.
5. Continuous Improvement & Operations
- Process Optimization: Contribute to internal efficiency initiatives and perform general IT administrative tasks assigned by the IT Manager.
Candidate Profile & Minimum Entry Requirements
To qualify for this graduate intake, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualification: A completed Diploma, Higher Diploma, or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related ICT discipline (BTEC Higher National Diploma / Diploma of Higher Education equivalent).
- Experience Level: No previous work experience required (Recent graduates who completed their qualification within the last 1–2 years are encouraged to apply).
- Technical Baseline: Microsoft Office proficiency alongside a strong foundational understanding of computer hardware, desktop operating systems, and basic networking principles.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Location: Based in or able to commute reliably to Midrand, Gauteng.
