Fragomen is more than a global immigration services provider—it is the world’s leading pioneer shaping the future of global mobility. Combining deep corporate immigration expertise with innovative tech, Fragomen helps multinational companies and individuals transcend borders, unlocking complex strategic opportunities all around the globe.

The Johannesburg Government Strategies and Corporate Compliance (GSCC) team operates at the critical intersection of immigration law, public policy, and strategic government engagement. This team handles the intricate regulatory landscapes that control how global corporations move executive talent into and across Africa. As the lone selected graduate intern, you will step into a fast-paced advisory environment designed to provide structured learning, direct mentorship from world-class IT and legal professionals, and hands-on exposure to cross-border operational frameworks.

Operational Scope & Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the GSCC Divisional Manager, the intern will handle corporate casework, legislative tracking, and client communications across three main operational areas:

1. Policy Research & Strategic Advisory Support

  • Regulatory Analysis: Conduct deep, thorough research on evolving immigration legislation, public policy changes, and regional regulatory developments.
  • Advisory Compilation: Assist in writing, editing, and formatting high-quality corporate policy advice briefings, compliance reports, and legislative research summaries.
  • Current Affairs Monitoring: Stay highly informed on global geopolitical events, macro-economic shifts, and international mobility trends that impact client visa pathways.

2. Government Liaison & Case Management Lifecycle

  • State Authority Tracking: Proactively liaise and follow up with government and municipal authorities regarding outstanding corporate visa applications.
  • Client Communication: Keep multinational corporate clients updated within strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs) regarding the exact progress of pending immigration filings.
  • System Integrity: Maintain accurate, real-time records by updating Fragomen’s proprietary internal case management software, including WIPPER and Connect.

3. Financial & Operational Administration

  • Billing Forecasting: Manage data updates for internal billing portals and assist the finance desk with compiling accurate billing forecasts.
  • Frontline Screening: Provide general administrative support, screen specialized incoming telephone inquiries, and respond to internal and external email flows.

Candidate Profile & Strict Eligibility Criteria

To satisfy Fragomen’s global client compliance screening and automated tracking systems, applicants must possess the following baseline credentials:

  • Academic Threshold: Must hold a completed Honours Degree from a recognized university, preferably built upon a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, Political Science, Public Management, Law, or a related humanities field.
  • Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in South Africa.
  • Infrastructure Requirements: A completely reliable home internet connection and a quiet, suitable workspace for the designated remote-work days.
  • Commute Availability: Fully capable of commuting to the Rosebank/Johannesburg corporate office at least three days per week.

Required Behavioral & Cognitive Competencies

  • Intellectual Curiosity: A sharp mind that reads widely and stays deeply informed about local and global current affairs.
  • Advanced Writing & Research: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills, with a proven ability to build structured, accurate arguments.
  • Execution Under Pressure: Outstanding organizational skills to manage multiple high-priority files inside a fast-paced corporate environment without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Professional Judgment: Sound discretion, integrity, and absolute professionalism when interacting with high-level external corporate stakeholders and state departments.

Career Advice for Fragomen Applicants

  1. Highlight Research and Essay Projects on Your CV: Fragomen places extreme emphasis on your research and writing abilities. Do not just list your degree title. Create a dedicated section on your CV called “Key Academic Research Projects” and write a 2-3 sentence summary of your Honours dissertation or major research papers, detailing how you gathered and analyzed complex policy data.
  2. Assemble the “Triple Pack” Before Submitting: Fragomen has a zero-tolerance policy for incomplete applications. If you do not upload all three mandated documents—your CV, your Full Official University Transcripts, and a clean copy of your Identity Document—their automated system will instantly decline your profile. Combine them into a single, high-contrast PDF.
  3. Prepare for the Digital Screening Pipeline: If your resume passes the initial screening, you will be invited to an online verbal reasoning assessment and a one-way video interview. Practice reading complex texts under time constraints, and ensure your web camera and lighting are set up professionally before recording your video responses.

Sample Interview Preparation Questions

Immigration, Public Policy & Research Logic Questions

  • Question (Analyzing Regulatory Shifts): “The GSCC team helps clients navigate an evolving regulatory landscape. If a regional government suddenly passes a strict new policy limiting corporate work visas for foreign nationals, how would you structure your research to compile an immediate impact brief for a multinational tech client?”
  • Question (Client SLA Management): “In global mobility, corporate clients are often highly anxious about visa processing delays that stall their business operations. How would you handle a situation where a client demands an immediate update on a pending application, but the government authority has not provided any new information?”

Cognitive, Digital Assessment & Behavioral Questions

  • Question (Data System Precision): “This internship requires keeping internal case trackers like WIPPER and Connect updated daily. Why is absolute attention to detail in data logging so critical when dealing with sensitive legal, immigration, and corporate billing information?”
  • Question (Intellectual Curiosity & Current Affairs): “Fragomen looks for candidates who read widely and track global trends. What is an international immigration or policy issue currently unfolding in current affairs that you find particularly fascinating, and why do you think it matters for global business mobility?”

How to Apply

To secure this exclusive, single-vacancy placement within Fragomen’s global strategy framework, you must submit your portfolio before the terminal deadline on Wednesday, 15 July 2026.
