Career Advice: The Helpdesk “Success” Formula
- Focus on the SLA: CapeNature explicitly mentions a 90% resolution rate. In your interview, describe how you prioritize tasks to ensure urgent issues are resolved quickly without letting smaller requests fall through the cracks.
- Security-First Mindset: Modern IT support is as much about security as it is about fixing hardware. Emphasize your understanding of security patches and the importance of deactivating accounts immediately when a user leaves.
- Technical vs. Non-Technical: You will be speaking to scientists, field rangers, and admin staff. Show that you can explain a “VPN issue” or “system update” in simple terms without using too much jargon.
