The Technical Intern – 2027 Graduate Internship Program is a paid, 12-month structured career accelerator based in Johannesburg. Embedded within the Consulting and Customer Advisory teams, interns work alongside senior data scientists, risk modelers, and AI specialists to apply advanced analytics, algorithm development, and predictive modeling to solve real-world corporate challenges.
Key Responsibilities & Technical Workstreams
In this technical advisory role, your daily deliverables will cover four core areas:
1. Data Science & Predictive Analytics
- Model Building: Assist in preparing, cleaning, and modeling large datasets using SAS tools, statistical algorithms, and data science methodologies.
- Customer Advisory: Work with consulting teams to translate client business questions into data-driven analytical solutions.
2. Technical Solutioning & Demos
- Proof of Concepts: Help build proof-of-concept (PoC) models and interactive analytics dashboards for enterprise clients across financial, risk, and commercial sectors.
- System Testing: Support the validation and testing of analytical models and AI algorithms.
3. Professional & Soft Skills Development
- Mentorship: Receive structured coaching and technical mentoring from senior SAS consultants.
- Technical Writing: Document analytical workflows, data pipelines, and project findings for internal and client-facing presentations.
Candidate Profile & Selection Criteria
To qualify for entry into the 2027 graduate cohort, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualifications: Completed Undergraduate Degree, Honours, or Master’s Degree in:
- Data Science / Analytics
- Computer Science / Software Engineering
- Mathematics / Statistics
- Actuarial Science / Risk Management
- Economics / Quantitative Finance
- Citizenship & Age: Must be a South African Citizen (with a valid SA ID) and not older than 30 years old.
- Program Availability: Must be available to start the 12-month program on 01 February 2027.
- Prior Experience Restrictions: Must have no significant previous work experience and must not have participated in previous graduate or internship programs.
- Language & Soft Skills: Fluent in English (written and verbal), with excellent analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
