The Management Information (MI) Analyst Intern will join 1Life’s core MI & Analytics unit. In this entry-level development role, you will bridge the gap between academic data theory and commercial reporting—learning how raw insurance metrics are collected, structured, and translated into business intelligence dashboards for executive decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities & Learning Exposure
As an MI Analyst Intern, you will gain hands-on, practical experience across five foundational data and business intelligence pillars:
1. Data Management & Reporting
- System Extraction: Collect, validate, and maintain operational data from multiple core insurance software platforms.
- Report Generation: Assist in producing routine daily, weekly, and monthly management reports while handling ad-hoc data extraction requests.
- Data Accuracy: Conduct regular data quality checks to ensure integrity across all published metrics.
2. Data Analysis & Insights
- Pattern Recognition: Analyze business trends, operational anomalies, and performance variances across insurance portfolios.
- Dashboard Support: Support the team in tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and developing interactive visual dashboards.
3. Process Improvement & Reporting Automation
- Automation: Assist senior analysts in building automated reporting scripts to reduce manual spreadsheet workflows.
- Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve existing data pipelines and reporting efficiency.
4. Stakeholder Support & Collaboration
- Query Resolution: Respond timeously and accurately to reporting requests and data queries from various business units.
- Project Exposure: Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to understand broader business intelligence needs within the insurance sector.
5. Governance, Compliance & Security
- Data Standards: Adhere strictly to data governance policies, reporting standards, and client confidentiality protocols.
Candidate Profile & Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this graduate opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualification: A completed Degree or National Diploma in any of the following fields:
- Statistics / Applied Mathematics
- Data Science / Business Analytics
- Informatics / Computer Science
- (or any related quantitative/data science qualification)
- Technical Exposure: Foundational knowledge or academic experience in tools such as Power BI, SQL, Python, R, or Excel is highly advantageous.
- Employment Status: Recent graduate who is currently unemployed and eager to gain first workplace exposure.
