The Role: Water Process Control
Water and wastewater process controllers are the guardians of public health. In this role, you learn the science and mechanics behind turning raw water into safe drinking water, and treating wastewater so it can be safely returned to the environment. This NQF Level 3 qualification provides the foundational knowledge required to work at municipal water treatment plants or private industrial sites.
Key Learning Areas
- Water Treatment Processes: Understanding the stages of coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, and filtration.
- Chemical Dosing: Learning how to safely measure and apply chemicals (like chlorine) to purify water.
- Wastewater Management: Studying the biological and chemical processes used to treat sewage and industrial effluent.
- Health & Safety: Adhering to strict safety protocols in a laboratory and plant environment.
- Equipment Operation: Learning to monitor and maintain pumps, valves, and digital control systems.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Must have passed/completed Grade 12.
- Age: Between 18 – 35 years.
- Locality: Must reside within the Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality (Proof of residence required).
- Status: Must be currently unemployed.
