About the Role & Mettus Operations

Mettus is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented IT Monitoring Intern to join their operations center. Mettus provides technology-driven solutions requiring continuous, high-availability infrastructure oversight and system monitoring.

This internship is designed for individuals with a strong background or interest in Information Technology or Computer Science who want to build a career in network operations, systems support, and incident management.

Key Responsibilities & Internship Exposure

The Monitoring Intern will receive hands-on training and assist the technical operations team across four primary functional areas:

1. Infrastructure & Network Oversight

  • Real-Time Monitoring: Observe system dashboards, network alerts, server performance, and application uptime.
  • Anomaly Detection: Identify potential technical outages, server bottlenecks, or network latency issues early.

2. Incident Logging & Escalation

  • Ticket Management: Log detailed incident reports and support tickets for system errors or outages.
  • Tier-2 Escalation: Route technical issues to tier-2 network engineers, developers, or system administrators according to SLA response guidelines.

3. Shift Operations & Reporting

  • Shift Rotations: Provide reliable shift coverage, including evening, weekend, and public holiday rotations to maintain 24/7 service availability.
  • System Logs: Generate handover logs and status summaries at the end of each shift.

4. Administrative & Technical Support

  • Process Improvement: Participate in routine system health checks and maintain technical documentation.

  • Educational Qualifications & Interests:
    • Qualification, formal coursework, or strong demonstrated interest in Information Technology, Computer Science, System Administration, or Networking (Mandatory).
  • Availability & Shift Flexibility:
    • Must be fully comfortable and willing to work shift rotations, including weekends and public holidays (Mandatory).
  • Core Skills & Attributes:
    • High attention to detail and strong observational skills.
    • Basic understanding of IT infrastructure, networks, and operating systems.
    • Solid problem-solving ability and structured analytical thinking.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Proactive, reliable, and eager to learn in a real-time IT operations environment.
