This entry-level Investment Service Consultant position offers an exceptional gateway for high-achieving graduates and early-career professionals to break into the South African asset management and investment industry. Working within a high-performing operations team, you will deliver expert investment query support, assist financial advisors and institutional clients with portfolio transactions, and develop deep industry domain expertise.

Key Responsibilities & Daily Deliverables

The Investment Service Consultant will operate across four core functional areas:

1. Investment Client & Advisor Consulting

  • Query Resolution: Provide professional, high-touch support to financial advisors, wealth managers, and individual investors regarding unit trusts, offshore funds, and discretionary portfolios.
  • Transaction Processing: Assist clients with onboarding, portfolio switches, redemptions, contributions, and account maintenance procedures.

2. Portfolio & Operational Analysis

  • Statement & Performance Reporting: Interpret and explain investment statements, fund factual sheets, fee breakdowns, and performance metrics.
  • Problem Solving: Investigate administrative or operational roadblocks to ensure seamless execution of client requests within strict SLA turnaround times.

3. Written & Verbal Communication

  • Professional Correspondence: Deliver clear, articulate, and empathetic written communication via email and telephone engagement.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build trust with stakeholders through reliable follow-up and precise product knowledge.

4. Continuous Professional Development

  • Industry Training: Participate in ongoing technical learning sessions covering regulatory compliance (FAIS, FICA), market dynamics, and specialized investment vehicle structures.

Candidate Profile & Minimum Entry Requirements

To qualify for consideration for this position, applicants must meet the following mandatory criteria:

  • Educational Qualifications:
    • Completed Bachelor’s Degree (Undergraduate degree is perfectly acceptable; Honours, PGD, or Master’s qualifications are advantageous).
    • Eligible Fields of Study: Economics, Investments, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Management, Finance, or closely related fields (🚫 Note: Actuarial Science degrees are strictly excluded).
  • Academic Performance Benchmarks:
    • Minimum 65% aggregate yearly academic average during tertiary studies (Essential).
    • Strong Matric mathematics result: Minimum 60% for Grade 12 Core Mathematics (Essential).
  • Work Experience Limit:
    • 0 to 4 years of work experience overall. Candidates currently employed must not exceed 4 years of total career experience (specifically tailored for entry-level / early-career growth).
  • Extracurricular Involvement (Mandatory Evidence):
    • Must show clear evidence of active involvement outside of pure academics during university studies (e.g., part-time work, volunteering, tutoring, mentoring, leadership, or campus societies).
    • Dean’s List and Golden Key International Honour Society memberships are highly advantageous.
  • Key Soft Skills:
    • Genuinely passionate about financial markets and long-term wealth building.
    • Service-oriented, analytical, highly articulate, adaptable, and energetic.
