About the Opportunity & The Host Employer

Multilead Consulting Services has been designated to identify and screen specialized entry-level talent for the Road Accident Fund (RAF). Operating within the Government Administration sector, the RAF provides a critical social security safety net to all users of South African roads, facilitating compensation, medical recovery, and administrative justice for victims of motor vehicle accidents.

This 18-month Correspondence Internship is a highly specialized development program designed to provide young, unemployed graduates who have disabilities with foundational workplace exposure. Operating from the administrative hub in Centurion, successful candidates will learn how to manage massive public sector document workflows, navigate secure digital archiving infrastructure, and coordinate institutional records management.

Operational Dimensions & Work-Based Exposure

Interns will undergo comprehensive daily rotation across three core administrative and archive-management quadrants:

1. Correspondence & Mailroom Lifecycle Management

  • Mail Workflows: Process, categorize, and log all incoming and outgoing corporate mail, including formal mail batching procedures.
  • Correspondence Protocols: Execute end-to-end Correspondence Management responsibilities under the supervision of senior registry officers.
  • Secure Administration: Handle specialized Banking Indemnity Form processing and validation tasks.
  • Infrastructure Care: Coordinate the maintenance and operational uptime of localized Correspondence Management equipment, scanning infrastructure, and materials.

2. Archive Services, Data Capturing & Registry Auditing

  • System Data Entry: Provide fast, accurate, and high-volume digital data capturing services across internal tracking systems.
  • Filing & Retrieval: Oversee the methodical filing, secure retrieval, physical receiving, and dispatching of institutional files inside the Archive Services vault.
  • Auditing & Digitization: Conduct rigorous quality audits and digital scanning of physical case files to migrate records into permanent digital formats.
  • Off-Site Logistics: Manage workflows involving requesting and collecting historical case files from off-site storage networks.

3. Frontline Operations & Switchboard Coordination

  • Front Desk Coverage: Manage professional reception desk interactions, greeting external stakeholders and corporate visitors.
  • Switchboard Services: Route high-volume telephonic inquiries cleanly across internal departments, ensuring a professional customer-focused orientation.

Candidate Profile, Age & Educational Criteria

To satisfy the baseline compliance protocols for this public sector intake, candidates must strictly match the following parameters:

  • Target Profile: Must be an unemployed South African graduate with no prior work or internship experience in the relevant administrative field.
  • Age Bracket: Cleanly between 18 and 25 years old.
  • Minimum Education: A certified copy of Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 certificate.
  • Tertiary Qualification: A completed, relevant NQF Level 7 Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Diploma.
    • Note for Foreign Qualifications: Candidates holding international qualifications must supply a formal evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) alongside their application.

Vital Core Competencies

  • Customer Focus: A natural customer orientation with the ability to assist public sector stakeholders patiently.
  • Digital Literacy: High level of computer literacy across basic database systems, data entry forms, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Team Dynamics: Strong interpersonal communication skills to function smoothly as an adaptable team player.

Career Advice for Multilead & RAF Applicants

  1. Be Fully Transparent Regarding Internship History: The RAF enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding previous internship experience. Failure to disclose prior placement in a similar administrative field will result in automatic, permanent disqualification during the security vetting stage.
  2. Do Not Forget Your Transcripts: The screening team notes that applications submitted without full academic transcripts will be immediately deleted from the tracking system. Make sure your transcript is clearly legible and attached as part of your document bundle.
  3. Draft a High-Impact Motivational Letter: Since this role is specifically looking for individuals living with disabilities who match an NQF 7 background, use your 1-page motivational letter to clearly explain why you are passionate about launching a public administration career within the RAF infrastructure.

Sample Interview Preparation Questions

Technical, Archiving & Public Administration Questions

  • Question (Document Integrity & Privacy): “The Road Accident Fund deals with highly sensitive personal, medical, and legal files daily. How would you handle a situation where physical files are left unattended in an open registry workspace?”
  • Question (High-Volume Data Capturing): “Archive and correspondence roles require processing hundreds of data lines and incoming mail batches every week. What techniques do you use to maintain total data accuracy and avoid typing mistakes when handling repetitive, high-volume filing tasks?”

Behavioral & Customer Relations Questions

  • Question (Handling Frustrated Enquiries): “While managing the frontline reception desk or switchboard, you might interact with a claimant who is highly frustrated or emotional about their case delay. How would you maintain a professional, calm, and customer-focused attitude while directing them to the correct department?”
  • Question (Vetting & Accountability): “All prospective employees under this program are subjected to official security vetting. Why do you think public sector entities like the RAF place such a high premium on integrity, disclosure, and data security during the hiring process?”

Application Documentation Checklist

Ensure your complete application package is put together neatly. Your portfolio must not exceed a maximum of 3 pages for the CV portion and should include:

  • An updated Short CV (max 3 pages).
  • A formal Motivational Letter.
  • A certified copy of your South African ID.
  • Certified copies of your Grade 12 Certificate and NQF 7 Degree/Advanced Diploma.
  • Your Full, Official Academic Transcript (mandatory).
