The Discovery Institute of Training is inviting young, driven South Africans to apply for the NC: Wealth Management NQF Level 5 Learnership Programme. This 12-month learnership combines formal classroom learning with real-world practical experience within Discovery’s Sales & Distribution division. Learners will work alongside Certified Financial Planners (CFPs) and Learning & Development specialists to research financial products, develop training materials for financial advisers, and gain deep exposure to wealth management, financial planning, and market trends.

Key Responsibilities & Learning Workstreams

During this structured 12-month learnership, candidates will focus on five primary core workstreams:

1. Training Material Development & Support

  • Adviser Upskilling: Support financial planning specialists in reviewing, drafting, and updating training content used to upskill financial advisers.
  • Resource Database: Assist in organizing, maintaining, and updating the central repository of learning materials and adviser tools.

2. Financial Research & Data Analysis

  • Market Research: Conduct targeted research on wealth management products, financial planning strategies, market trends, and regulatory updates.
  • Data Gathering: Gather, analyze, and format financial data to create real-world case studies and scenario-based training exercises.

3. Feedback & Program Evaluation

  • Feedback Collection: Collect, track, and summarize participant feedback from training sessions to identify content improvements.
  • Brainstorming: Participate in team strategy sessions to design innovative learning solutions and training delivery methods.

4. Mentorship & Professional Development

  • Expert Coaching: Engage directly with experienced CFPs and Learning & Development practitioners for regular mentorship and guidance.
  • Skill Building: Complete all classroom assessments, portfolio of evidence (POE) modules, and workplace assignments required for the NQF Level 5 qualification.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

To qualify for entry into this NQF Level 5 learnership, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualifications:
    • Grade 12 / Matric Certificate (Essential).
    • Mathematics: Minimum Level 4 (50%) OR Mathematical Literacy: Minimum Level 5 (60%).
    • English: Minimum Level 4 (50%).
    • 2nd Language: Minimum Level 4 (50%).
    • Incomplete tertiary qualifications in finance, commerce, or economics are advantageous.
  • Specific Criteria & Eligibility:
    • Must be a South African citizen by birth.
    • Must be aged between 18 and 30 years.
    • Must NOT be currently engaged in post-Matric tertiary studies or formal employment.
    • Must NOT have completed any previous formal learnership programme.
  • Technical & Core Skills:
    • Basic computer literacy (proficient in MS Excel and MS Outlook).
    • Strong research, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal English communication capabilities.
    • High attention to detail, systematic work style, and good time management under pressure.
