Gijima, one of South Africa’s leading Information and Communications Technology (ICT) companies, is officially recruiting four Data Analyst Interns for its Midrand headquarters. This 12-month programme is designed for IT graduates who are ready to dive into the technical world of data governance and reporting within a high-performance corporate environment.

With the closing date fast approaching on Friday, 20 March 2026, this is a high-priority opportunity for Gauteng-based graduates to launch their careers in one of the most in-demand fields in tech.

The Role: Data Integrity & Business Intelligence

As a Data Analyst Intern at Gijima, you will be more than a “data capturer.” You will be trained to maintain the accuracy of business information, support data-driven decision-making, and ensure high levels of data governance.

  • Reporting & Analysis: Turning raw datasets into meaningful reports for management.
  • Data Governance: Ensuring that information is stored, handled, and reported according to strict organizational standards.
  • System Maintenance: Working with complex platforms to validate and clean data entries.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered, you must meet all of the following strict criteria:

  • Education: Completed a 3-year tertiary qualification (Degree or National Diploma) in IT, Informatics, Computer Science, or Computer Systems Engineering.
  • Age: Under 35 years old as of 1 April 2026.
  • Status: Currently unemployed and not participating in any other learnership or internship.
  • Location: Must live in the greater Midrand area (No relocation options available).
  • Criminal Record: Must have a clean record.
  • Citizenship: Open to all South African citizens (African, White, Coloured, Indian).

Technical Skills & “Nice-to-Haves”

  • Advanced MS Excel: You must be proficient in Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and Data Validation.
  • Analytical Power: Strong numerical capability and a meticulous eye for detail.
  • Bonus Skills (Advantageous):
    • Exposure to HRIS platforms (SAP, Oracle, or Sage).
    • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools.
    • Basic understanding of SA Labour Legislation (as the data may involve HR reporting).

Interview Prep: Possible Questions

  • “Explain a time you used Excel to solve a problem or organize large amounts of information.”
    • Tip: “During my final year project, I used XLOOKUP and Pivot Tables to consolidate data from three different sources. This allowed me to identify trends that weren’t visible in the raw data, ensuring my final report was 100% accurate.”
  • “What is Data Governance, and why does it matter in an IT company like Gijima?”
    • Tip: “Data governance is about the consistency, security, and quality of data. In a company like Gijima, it ensures that the information we use for business strategy is reliable, compliant with laws like the POPI Act, and free from errors.”
  • “How do you ensure your work is accurate when dealing with thousands of rows of data?”
    • Tip: “I use a ‘Check-as-you-go’ method. I implement data validation rules in Excel to catch errors early and always perform a final reconciliation against the source document to ensure the numbers match.”
