Located at Citi’s Johannesburg hub, this 12-month program combines practical workplace experience in the Equities & Markets division with a fully sponsored postgraduate qualification, positioning graduates for long-term career mobility and permanent absorption.
Key Responsibilities & Graduate Rotations
The Graduate Learner will participate across four core financial market operations:
1. Equities & Global Markets Operations
- Market Analysis: Support the Equities and Markets trading desks with quantitative data, market research, and asset pricing insights across African and global financial markets.
- Trade Support: Assist senior market specialists, analysts, and traders with client execution workflows, portfolio analytics, and settlement checks.
2. Sponsored Academic & Professional Growth
- Postgraduate Qualification: Complete a fully sponsored postgraduate qualification (aligned with your operational business unit) concurrently with on-the-job training.
- Structured Mentorship: Receive guidance from senior investment bankers, equity analysts, and global markets directors.
3. Financial Modeling & Business Intelligence
- Quantitative Analytics: Apply statistical tools and financial analysis to interpret market trends, corporate earnings, and macroeconomic shifts.
- Stakeholder Reporting: Prepare client presentations, investment briefs, and trade summaries for internal leadership and institutional clients.
4. Career Progression & Permanent Placement
- Internal Mobility: Eligible to apply for permanent corporate and investment banking roles within Citi throughout the 12-month tenure.
Candidate Profile & Minimum Entry Requirements

- Educational Qualifications:
- Completed Undergraduate Degree (GPA 65% / 65%+ academic average) OR a Master’s Degree in any academic discipline from a recognized university (Mandatory).
- An Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematical Sciences, or Actuarial qualification is an added advantage.
- Work Experience Limit:
- Maximum of 1 year of full-time work experience (or no prior work experience required).
