About the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC)
The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) is South Africa’s national statutory body mandated to assist in the identification of proceeds of crime, combat money laundering, and counter financing of terrorism under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FIC Act).
The FIC is seeking an accurate, detail-oriented Data Capturer to join the Monitoring and Analysis division on a 12-month fixed-term contract in Centurion, Pretoria. In this role, you will capture and validate financial and transactional data to support operational project requirements in strict accordance with the FIC Act.
Key Responsibilities & Daily Deliverables
The Data Capturer will execute core administrative and data tasks across four functional areas:
1. Data Capture & Transaction Processing
- Data Entry: Capture financial and transactional data accurately into internal systems to support Monitoring and Analysis operational projects.
- Compliance Alignment: Execute all capturing activities in accordance with departmental standards and the FIC Act (Act No. 38 of 2001 as amended).
2. Quality Control & Verification
- Data Validation: Authenticate, verify, and validate captured data to ensure accuracy and complete integrity.
- Discrepancy Reporting: Identify and report data errors, inconsistencies, or system issues encountered during the capturing process.
3. Document Management & Filing
- Record Keeping: File, archive, and organize captured records and physical/digital documentation in line with departmental policies.
4. Progress Reporting & Monitoring
- Status Reports: Compile and submit regular data capturing progress reports to supervisors and project leads as required.
- Quality Monitoring: Assist with ongoing quality control monitoring activities within the team.
Candidate Profile & Minimum Entry Requirements
To qualify for consideration for this position at the FIC, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Grade 12 / Matric / National Certificate (Essential).
- Matric with Accounting and Mathematics subjects (Preferred).
- Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of data capturing experience (Essential).
- Demonstrated experience handling transactional, financial, or numerical data (Advantageous).
- Computer Literacy & Technical Skills:
- Intermediate level of computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
- High numeric accuracy and data entry speed.
- Core Competencies & Personal Attributes:
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work systematically and handle confidential financial information with integrity.
