Key Responsibilities & Core Learning Workstreams

During this 12-month finance internship, your operational deliverables will span six primary core streams:

1. Financial Data Capturing & Maintenance

• Ledger Entries: Capture and maintain accurate financial records, journal entries, and general ledger data.
• Invoice Processing: Support accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processing, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.

2. Reconciliations & Reporting Support

• Reconciliations: Assist with monthly bank reconciliations, supplier statement matching, and account balance verifications.
• Financial Reports: Help compile monthly financial reports, schedules, budgeting models, and variance analysis sheets.

3. Audit & Compliance Support

• Audit Readiness: Support internal and external audit preparation by gathering financial records, schedules, and compliance documentation.
• Record Management: File, organize, and archive financial documents in line with corporate governance policies and confidentiality standards.

4. General Finance Administration

• Operational Support: Perform routine office and financial administration duties, follow up on outstanding documentation, and participate in assigned training workshops.

Candidate Profile & Minimum Requirements

To qualify for entry into this 12-month graduate internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualifications:
  • National Diploma, Degree, or equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification in:
    • Finance
    • Accounting
    • Financial Management
    • Commerce (or closely related financial discipline).
• Work Experience: No prior work experience required (designed specifically for recent graduates).
• Core Technical Skills:
  • Basic understanding of fundamental accounting principles, debits/credits, and ledger concepts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a strong focus on MS Excel (spreadsheets, basic formulas, data handling), Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong numerical accuracy, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
• Behavioral & Interpersonal Skills:
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ability to handle confidential financial records.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
