A well-established financial services firm based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Post Investment Associate for a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This critical role is responsible for driving post-investment portfolio management, monitoring asset performance, leading complex deal restructurings, managing portfolio recoveries, and conducting enterprise valuations and strategic exit executions across diverse industry sectors.

Key Responsibilities & Portfolio Management Operations

The Post Investment Associate will oversee five core investment management pillars:

1. Portfolio Monitoring & Oversight

  • Performance Tracking: Continuously monitor financial health, operational milestones, and strategic deliverables of investee companies across a diverse portfolio.
  • Risk Analysis: Perform rigorous portfolio risk analysis to identify underperforming assets early and implement proactive risk mitigation strategies.

2. Restructuring & Recoveries

  • Deal Restructuring: Lead complex portfolio recoveries, debt/equity restructurings, and workouts for distressed or underperforming investee assets.
  • Legal & Commercial Compliance: Apply thorough knowledge of key commercial statutes, including the Companies Act, Taxation, Commercial Law, Litigation, and Insolvency Law.

3. Financial Modeling & Enterprise Valuations

  • Valuation Methodologies: Conduct sophisticated enterprise valuations, DCF modeling, and financial analytics for complex post-investment deals.
  • Financial Statement Analysis: Analyze and interpret complex audited financial statements, management accounts, and cash flow projections.

4. Strategic Exits & Corporate Governance

  • Exit Execution: Plan and execute strategic portfolio exit strategies, trade sales, and enterprise divestments to maximize investment returns.
  • Board Representation & Reporting: Draft high-level investment memos, board reports, and quarterly portfolio reviews using advanced MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

5. Project Management

  • Cross-Functional Execution: Drive end-to-end post-investment projects across multiple industry sectors, coordinating with auditors, legal counsel, and executive management.

Candidate Profile & Minimum Entry Requirements
