For a detail-oriented, computer-literate candidate looking to build a career in financial services administration, this is a strong entry-level opportunity with a competitive salary and clear relevance to the property and banking sectors.

What You Will Be Doing

This is an active, output-driven role — not passive filing or general admin. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Receiving home loan deals from the sales team and actioning them within the required turnaround time — ideally within 3 hours of receipt
  • Capturing and creating deals accurately on the company’s internal operations system
  • Ensuring every deal is captured with all relevant and required supporting documentation — nothing gets submitted incomplete
  • Double-checking all captured deals to identify and correct errors before submission to the bank
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of bank criteria and documentation requirements across multiple banking institutions
  • Prioritising urgent deals — especially those linked to 72-hour clauses, which are time-sensitive property contract conditions that can cause a sale to fall through if missed
  • Proactively following up on missing information and documentation to keep deals moving efficiently
  • Liaising continuously with the Sales Fulfilment team regarding queries, missing documents, and deal updates
  • Maintaining a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism when handling client and financial information
  • Supporting the broader administration team where required

Key Requirements

Essential:

  • Matric / Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
  • Computer literacy — strong and confident, not just basic
  • Strong attention to detail — this is the single most important attribute for this role
  • Good administrative and organisational skills
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Professional, confidential approach to handling sensitive client and financial information

Advantageous — will strengthen your application:

  • Diploma or certificate in administration, business, or a related field
  • 1–2 years of administration or data capturing experience
  • Experience working on CAM (a bond origination system used in the South African mortgage industry)
  • Exposure to or knowledge of the mortgage origination industry and home loan processes
  • Familiarity with bank documentation requirements for home loan applications

Note: Newly matriculated and recently graduated candidates with no experience are explicitly welcome to apply. The employer is open to junior candidates with strong potential.

What You Will Learn

Even though this is an entry-level role, working inside a mortgage origination business gives you exposure that is genuinely valuable for a long-term career in financial services:

  • How the South African home loan and property transaction process works from application to approval — knowledge that very few people your age will have
  • Bank-specific criteria and documentation requirements across major South African lenders including the major retail banks
  • What 72-hour clauses are, why they matter in property transactions, and how to manage deal urgency in a real business environment
  • How to operate accurately under pressure in a financial services environment where errors have real consequences for clients
  • Professional data management, confidentiality practices, and document control in a regulated industry
  • How a sales and operations team works together in a financial services business
  • CAM and similar mortgage origination systems — specialised software skills that are directly transferable to roles in other bond originators, banks, and property finance companies
  • The discipline of turnaround time management — learning to prioritise, escalate, and deliver within strict time frames is a skill that will serve you in any career

Possible Interview Questions

Prepare for questions like these before your RMV Solutions interview:

  1. What do you understand about what a mortgage originator does, and how does a Data Capturer support that process?
  2. Tell us about a time you had to complete a detailed, repetitive task accurately over a sustained period. How did you maintain your concentration and avoid errors?
  3. How do you prioritise when you have multiple deals or tasks arriving at the same time with different urgency levels?
  4. Have you worked with any data capturing, CRM, or administration systems before? Which ones, and what did you use them for?
  5. What does confidentiality mean to you in a work environment, especially when handling client financial and personal information?
  6. How do you handle a situation where you notice an error in work you have already submitted or handed over?
  7. How would you manage a situation where a colleague or client is chasing you for an update on a deal that is still missing documents?
  8. What does working under pressure look like for you — can you give us an example?

Tip: The 3-hour turnaround time requirement and the 72-hour clause priority are mentioned explicitly in the job description because they are real daily pressures in this role. In your interview, show that you understand why speed and accuracy must coexist — not one at the expense of the other. That balance is exactly what this employer is looking for.

Career Advice

  • This role is a genuine foot in the door of the South African financial services and property industry. Mortgage origination sits at the intersection of banking, property, and financial services — three of the most active and stable employment sectors in the country. Starting as a Data Capturer and performing well gives you visibility inside an industry that rewards accuracy, reliability, and initiative.
  • CAM experience is a niche advantage. CAM is a bond origination and deal management system used across the mortgage origination industry. If you can get exposure to it through this role, add it explicitly to your CV. It is a recognised system that immediately signals relevant industry experience to future employers in property finance, bond origination, and retail banking.
  • Accuracy is your professional brand in this role. In an industry where a missed document or a capturing error can delay or derail a client’s home loan — and potentially collapse a property sale — the Data Capturer who is known for zero errors and fast turnaround times is irreplaceable. Build that reputation from your very first week and protect it consistently.
  • Learn the bank criteria actively, not passively. Every major South African bank — ABSA, Standard Bank, Nedbank, FNB, Investec — has its own home loan criteria, income assessment rules, and documentation requirements. As you work through deals, deliberately study what each bank requires and why. Within six to twelve months, this knowledge will make you significantly more valuable than a colleague who just captures what they are given without understanding it.
  • R12 000 to R15 000 is a competitive entry-level salary in the Western Cape. For a newly matriculated or recently graduated candidate with little or no experience, this salary range is above the market average for junior admin roles. Treat it as an investment the company is making in you — and return that investment with your best work every day.
  • Use this role as a stepping stone toward bond processing, sales support, or financial administration. Data Capturers who demonstrate reliability, accuracy, and growing knowledge of the mortgage industry are well-positioned to move into bond processor roles, sales fulfilment coordinator positions, or junior financial administration roles within two to three years. Make your career ambitions known to your manager and ask what the progression pathway looks like.
  • Bellville is a growing financial services hub. The Cape Town metro and surrounding areas — including Bellville — have a significant concentration of financial services, insurance, and property companies. The professional network and industry knowledge you build at RMV Solutions will open doors across this ecosystem long after you move on.
